Waste Management

The client was starting a new waste management company in Alaska, and their only request was a site that put the customer first. For many, a canvas that blank is overwhelming, but as a senior designer I knew there was more behind the request. After speaking further with the client, two themes emerged: locals were unhappy with the national corporate waste company’s poor customer service and confusing website. Taking that into account — along with the limited internet speeds in the area — I set out to build a clean, lightweight site that was easy to navigate, surfaced relevant information quickly, and loaded fast. After completing their branding package, I created the UX for the site and, with client approval, built a custom theme and Elementor site that non-technical employees could use and update themselves.

Medical Advocacy & Support

This site reflected a typical situation: a nonprofit trying to get important information to their target demographic but lacking the infrastructure to do so in an organized, cohesive way. The biggest pain points were two massive databases that were difficult to organize and keep up to date — a resource library for patients and medical providers, and a find-a-clinic tool. Using ACF and a bit of custom code, I built two systems that went beyond the original scope while staying within budget, and that ensured a small team could maintain them for years to come.

Therapy Practitioner

Designing and building a single-practitioner site is always a bit of a tricky one. Done poorly, it feels like a large practice stripped back for one person, and it leaves users sensing something is missing. With that in mind, I set out to develop a site that made the services offered really shine. The client came in with a high-end brand but an existing site that didn’t match it, so I knew I had to elevate the fine details to reflect the polished, trustworthy look the brand demands.

Speech Pathology

This has been my longest-running freelance client — the kind of easy-to-work-with owners that even when I stopped taking freelance work, I couldn’t send them away. After a few facelifts to their previous sites, it was time for a complete overhaul: they’d grown from a single clinic to six across the region. My goal was to increase organic traffic and inquiries, which meant a modern approach focused on a layout that was easy for users to navigate while hitting the components that move the SEO and GEO needle. I developed the site end to end, from UX to build, plus tutorials so the client could make minor updates on their own. For a growing practice, I used ACF to build a custom post type that lets them add new staff members and have those members auto-populate to the locations where they see clients.

Church Plant

The client was a church plant launching soon in Gilbert, AZ. They had a basic Squarespace site with some copywriting in place, but it lacked intentionality in its UX choices and the design through-lines that make every page feel cohesive. I met with the client a number of times to understand their target demographic, goals, and mission, ensuring the final product felt authentic to the church they were planting.
